Fairness in Financial Support of Children
Experienced Representation in Georgia Child Support Law
Calculating child support is much more complicated than it used to be. Previously, support was determined as a flat percentage of the non-custodial parent's income. The state of Georgia changed the formula in 2006 to consider a wide range of factors.
For fair and accurate determination of child support, you need experienced legal counsel. I have practiced in family law for 21 years, including 10 years as a solo practitioner in Macon. I represent mothers or fathers, custodial or non-custodial, in Bibb County and surrounding jurisdictions of Middle Georgia. Contact me today to protect your interests.
Child Support — Getting It Right at the Beginning
Initial determination of child support is critical. It is difficult to show cause for modifying child support at a later date — especially to adjust it downward. I am fluent with the new child support calculator and all the considerations that go into the formula:
- Income of both parents
- Day care and after-school care
- Health insurance
- Private school tuition
- Travel expenses of the non-custodial parent
- The amount of visitation (parenting time)
- Unemployment/underemployment
In particular, I can uncover the true income of your spouse, if this is necessary. If the paying party is self-employed, for example, I am adept at discovering underreported income through tax returns, pay stubs, checking accounts and other means.
